Jetstar ramps up digital PaxEx on Airbus narrowbodies with Bluebox
At APEX EXPO in Long Beach this year, Mary Kirby, founder and editor at Runway Girl Network, met with Bluebox’s CEO, Kevin Clark, to discuss the company’s latest developments and customers. With Bluebox’s announcement about its new customer Jetstar in September, the conversation quickly focussed on the progress and unique value of that deployment of Bluebox’s digital passenger experience platform, Blueview, on Jetstar’s Airbus fleet.
For Clark, the project demonstrated that, as Kirby quoted: “The digital cabin is here,” as Blueview will provide both wireless inflight entertainment and e-commerce for passengers via their own devices.
Kirby’s article also explores the unique value of Blueview’s flexibility as it is being deployed in two ways on Jetstar – as a software stack on a linefit Airbus Airspace Link OSP solution on newly delivered Airbus A320new family aircraft, and on Bluebox’s aircraft-powered Bluebox Wow wireless IFE units on existing Airbus aircraft in Jetstar’s fleet – with both formats delivering the same passenger experience.
Addressing this compelling value Kirby writes: “Indeed, the ability to tick the box for Airbus OSP to be factory-fit to new aircraft deliveries, whilst selecting the chosen software partner’s own retrofittable or portable wireless IFE hardware for aircraft already in one’s fleet can be a key value-add for airlines.”
